Partners in Health: Redefining the possibilities of healthcare

We save lives, revitalize communities and transform global health. These are the words that define Partners In Health, an organization with the medical and moral mission of providing preferential healthcare to the poor.

Partners In Health is a non-profit organization formed by a team of health professionals, academics, and activists. The organization provides health services, provides training, conducts research, and advocates for human rights around the world. The two main purposes of the organization are to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those who need them, and to act as an "antidote to despair".

Partners In Health was founded in 1987 by Jim Kim, Ophelia Dahl, Paul Farmer, Todd McCormack, and Thomas J. White to provide medical services in specific regions of Haiti. Partners In Health has now expanded to geographically diverse locations including Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Peru, Mexico, Russia, the Dominican Republic, and the Navajo Nation. They also have an expanding network of partner organizations in several other countries.

The core belief of Partners In Health's founders and current supporters is that health is a human right that should be accessible to all. Co-founder Paul Farmer is a champion of human rights, saying, "The idea that some lives matter less is at the root of everything that's wrong with the world." By putting this belief into practice, Partners In Health builds a future of hope and continues to redefine the possibilities of healthcare.
